Continuing the Instant War art dump with works for one of the most ambitious updates that we made by far. A whole new tycoon mode for Update 08 : New Horizons, which basically introduced a new game within our game  I was working closely with the talented concept artists from Eastworks for each of the buildings' concepts. I was responsible for the overall Tycoon art direction and visuals, and decided to use Unreal Engine as a tool to illustrate my ideas. We did some camera projection on several buildings' concepts over their 3d mock-ups (used for the same exact concepts), and imported them in UE. I tweaked the basic materials, sculpted the terrain, composed my overall layout and populated it with assets (some crates, vegetation, roads, rocks etc. from Unreal Marketplace). It was a really fast and iterative way of working, and I'm really glad that I've experimented with using Unreal for vis-dev. Another key aspect for the update was the introduction of new units, which I made in 3d.
